Summer Tabletop Inspiration

Image

This beautiful table setting is the perfect blend of a summer night wedding mixed with the rustic touches of Vermont. A gorgeous Turquoise Nova Linen allows for all the pieces to tie together perfectly, while the ivory iridescent crush napkins and silver beaded charger add pops of color. The Saint Andrea flatware add an elegant touch while the birch tea light holders from Piper Designs prop inventory give that rustic Vermont feel to finish off the look.

Spring Site Visits

As the snow is slowly melting and temperatures begin to rise, now is a good time to begin scheduling a site visit if you are planning a tented wedding.

Weddings, Tents & Events offers complimentary site visits for all of our tented weddings and events. It is helpful to have us come by and measure the site, make recommendations for locations, flooring (if needed) and to review your preferences for delivery location, delivery time etc.

We are also happy to make creative suggestions for your location. Some private homes offer a variety of design options given what is already there.

Perhaps you have a lovely stone patio that would be the perfect place for the cocktail tent

Surrounding trees might be a good opportunity for lighting

A walkway to the tent could be created using lanterns or luminaries

Whether you just need us to help with the logistical aspects or need creative help with design, we are always happy to help and go beyond our service as an Event Rental Company.

An Intimate, Rustic Vermont Venue: Amee Farm and Lodge

If you are looking for a rustic, intimate space in Vermont to have a wedding, I highly recommend Riverside Farms’ Amee Farm.

Though I work with Riverside Farms often through my work at Weddings, Tents & Events, I have never had the chance to tour their beautiful properties. Yesterday, Jenna and I ventured the back roads of Vermont to Pittsfield to see the splendor ourselves.

The entire property at Riverside Farms is just spectacular. The expansive lawn between the two beautiful barns is perfect for an outdoor ceremony or tented cocktail hour and the amenities that they offer, such as the Bridal Suite, Groom’s Cabin and The Stables create an exclusive and peaceful environment for the couple and their wedding party. There is so much comfort for a couple to be able to stay where they are having the wedding.

Their second location, Amee Farm, is just down the street. This is the perfect option for a couple who wants to have the same exclusive, peaceful and beautiful experience that they would have at Riverside Farms, but who want a more intimate, smaller setting. The main event space at Amee Farm can accommodate up to 125 guests.

Outside

The event space is lovely –  The rustic style and reclaimed features that you see in the barns at Riverside are present throughout the Amee Farm.

One side of the space showcases large french doors that open onto the rolling hill where couple often choose to have cocktail hour. The large, reclaimed wood doors that separate the main space from smaller nooks and storage spaces break up the white walls beautifully.

chairs

A staircase leading up to the second floor reveals the start of the guest bedrooms (which continues onto the next two floors), and reveals the most cozy and charming living areas, a dining space, and a kitchen. The deck off the front of the building on the second floor only continued to impress me, as they had placed beautiful Adirondack chairs to help the lodging guests relax even more and take it all in. They also offer a continental breakfast every morning!

Porch

To top it all off, part of the property includes a General Store which is just as charming as the rest. They do offer catering for those looking for a more casual meal, and had wonderful choices for vegetarians and vegans.

For more information about weddings and other events at Amee Farm and Lodge, please contact the Event Sales Director, Liz Cotter at info.riversidefarm@gmail.com or give her a call at 802-282-9880

Valentines Day : An Alternative to Dining Out

Valentines Day. It’s the annual holiday that sends women into a tizzy and men cringing and card sales go up a million percent. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against Valentines Day – except going out to the restaurant. Having been a frequent restaurant-goer, Valentines Day is the worst for going out; the restaurants know they can get as many people packed into their space as they want, and people will be spending a fortune anyways. Service is at an all-time low, and people just ignore it and come home love-struck and with empty pockets. And I’m always disappointed that such a passionate holiday is kept so impersonal.

What Valentines Day should really be about, is Love. And I love Love. Being surrounded by love is one of my favorite things in the world, and although I try to do it every day with the people I care about in my life, sometimes you just need a holiday to express your love guilt-free. So I have a plan: Instead of spending a fortune going out to a restaurant and being disappointed when I come home, I’m going to have a party. A dinner party, filled with delicious food, decorations, table linens and all, and invite my closest friends over and we’ll drink fancy wine and eat perfectly cooked un-rushed food and indulge on cheap chocolate candy. Fancy wine, cheap chocolate.

Think: Julie and Julia, circa the Valentines Day dinner scene (although I doubt they had anything “cheap” at their table).

Buying linens are expensive. And I move around so much that I’m trying not to buy household things that I don’t have to. And I don’t have to, because really, I can rent anything I need in this day and age. So with my new idea in mind, I’m renting (obviously) from Weddings, Tents and Events – one, I love what they do, and two, they have everything I need for less. Why buy when I can rent them? So I’ve picked out my Valentines Day themed dinnerware, completely with pink table cloth and silver candlesticks. It’s easy, it’s less expensive, and both myself and my friends are always happier to not have to wash dishes after dinner. Seeing them happy is what makes me happy, and thats the spirit of Valentines Day.

Featured Wedding Vendor: Sweet Simone’s

Many times when I meet with couples in our showroom to discuss their rental order, they come to me with only their venue booked. I love to refer couples to my favorite Vermont photographers, caterers, floral designers and the really fun one-confections!

Of course, I will only recommend a cake designer or sweets vendor if I have tasted their work myself, so when Lisa, of The Sweet Spot Bakery and Sweet Simone’s cakes invited me to come to their shop and try a few cupcakes, I was thrilled.

Her shop is adorable. Right on Bridge St. in Waitsfield (be sure to check out the other cute shops and maybe even stop in Peasant for a bite to eat if you have time) the shop offers sweets that you can take to go, or you can place an order for a larger variety of confections.

My favorite cupcake that Sweet Simone’s offers is their coconut which had a very light, butter cream frosting topped with shaved coconut. We also tried the popular, red velvet cupcake, and the chocolate cupcake with a perfect, whipped chocolate frosting. The coconut macaroons were also delicious. I basically stuffed my face with as much cupcake as I possibly could…and then took the rest with me only to finish it off at the office a half hour later.

These were hands down, some of the most delicious cupcakes I have had in a very long time…and I am so picky about cake. The cake was light and fluffy, yet moist and the frosting was not overly sweet…confection perfection.

Sweet Simone’s offers awesome flavors and can really bring any cake design that you could imagine to life. I hope you’ll try it…and bring me a cupcake on your way back home 🙂

Deck your Holiday Table with WT&E

The Holidays are upon us and one of my favorite details to plan for my Holiday party is the table setting and design (okay, but mostly the food that goes on it).

In my opinion, a Holiday table does not have to scream red, green and santa clause. My favorite color palette to use when decorating for the Holidays is neutral-black, white and beige- with pops of red and mixing textures and patterns…metallics, wood, velvet etc.

I’ve decorated a Holiday themed table to share with you and I invite you to call Weddings, Tents & Events with your Holiday rental orders! If you need a few extra chairs, a larger table, some fun linen, or need china, flatware and glassware for your party, we can provide even small orders.

Green Mountain Inn

If just passing the Green Mountain Inn in Stowe, VT, you would never know that this quintessential Vermont Inn boasts not only lovely wedding reception spaces for up to 120, but also a spa, outdoor 4-season pool, gym, a wonderful restaurant, and lovely suites and townhouses.

Yesterday, I was invited to visit to view their latest addition-an outdoor ceremony space. Tucked behind the in, along the forest line, the ceremony space features marble benches built into the stone wall that surround the area and a stone pathway that acts as a ceremony aisle.
